About Us

HERI-Kenya (Health + Environmental Research Institute – Kenya) is a non-profit community benefit dedicated to improving health, protecting the environment, and promoting sustainable development. Founded in 2021, HERI bridges the gap between scientific research, grassroots action, and policy-making to create practical, lasting solutions.

Our Mission

To inspire collective action toward healthier communities and resilient environments.

Our Vision

An environmentally conscious community thriving in health and sustainable living.

Our Approach

Research underpins all HERI-Kenya projects. We conduct assessments, surveys, and applied studies to ensure interventions are relevant, ethical, and effective, and that learning informs scale and replication.

We translate research into action through targeted projects that address waste management, environmental health, and community capacity. Our learning and demonstration site allows students, communities, institutions, and visitors to experience evidence-based sustainability solutions in action. Our learning and eco-tours are guided educational experiences built around real projects, not simulations.

We track outcomes, learn continuously, and adapt interventions to ensure accountability and meaningful change.
